Two YABA traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with BGB at Kayukkhali Para of Teknaf Municipality on Saturday June 1. One lakh YABA and sharp weapons were recovered from the spot, said BGB.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Gafur, (40) son of Sultan Ahmed, and Mohammad Sadek (23) son of late Sharif of Keruntali under Rangikhali’s Rohingya Camp.
On the basis of secret information members of BGB rushed to the spot and they were attacked by the drug dealers. Counter-attack was started by BGB for self-defense. Later, two people were rescued from the scene and taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex, doctors declared them dead. Two members of BGB were also injured at the same time.
Teknaf-2 BGB battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Hasan Khan said, A team of BGB conducted an operation in the area after getting information of YABA trafficking at Kyukhan canal with under Teknaf Thana on Saturday.One lakh pieces of YABA were recovered from the spot.
