এভারকেয়ার হসপিটাল চট্টগ্রাম-এর থোরাসিক সার্জারি এবং কার্ডিওভাস্কুলার বিভাগের সিনিয়র কনসালটেন্ট ডা. মোহাম্মদ ফজলে মারুফ বলেন, “এটি মূলত উপসর্গবিহীন একটি রোগ। ফলে এটি সাধারণ যেকোন রোগের চেয়ে বেশি ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ। তবে রোগীর পেটে ও বুকে ব্যাথা অনুভব হতে পারে এবং প্রেসার বেড়ে যেতে পারে। পেটের সিটি স্ক্যান, ইউএসজি অথবা এক্স-রে-এর মাধ্যমে এই রোগ সনাক্ত করা হয় এবং সনাক্তের পর চিকিৎসা করানো অতিব জরুরী। সাধারণত সার্জারির মাধ্যমে এই রোগের চিকিৎসা করা হয়। তবে বর্তমানে থোরাসিক এন্ডোভাস্কুলার এওর্টিক রিপেয়ার-এর মতো বিশেষ ও আধুনিক পদ্ধতিতে এই রোগের চিকিৎসা করা হয়, যেই পদ্ধতি আমরা ব্যবহার করেছি।” তিনি আরও বলেন, “আপনারা ইতোমধ্যেই জেনেছেন যে এই পদ্ধতি রাজধানী ছাড়া দেশের অন্য কোথাও এর আগে ব্যবহৃত হয়নি এবং বাংলাদেশে এ নিয়ে চতুর্থবারের মতো সফলভাবে এই পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করা হলো।”
এভারকেয়ার হসপিটাল চট্টগ্রাম-এর ইন্টারভেনশনাল কার্ডিওলজি বিভাগের সিনিয়র কনসালটেন্ট ডা. আশীষ দে বলেন, “বিরলতম এই রোগের চিকিৎসায় এভারকেয়ার হসপিটাল চট্টগ্রাম-এর অভাবনীয় সাফল্যে আমি অত্যন্ত আনন্দিত ও গর্বিত। আমাদের শরীরের ধমনীর কোন অংশ অস্বাভাবিকভাবে বড় হতে থাকলে তাকে এওর্টিক এনিউরিজম বলা হয়। এওর্টিক এনিউরিজম-এর সাথে সাধারণত যাদের ডায়াবেটিস ও প্রেসার জনিত সমস্যা আছে তাদের ঝুঁকি তুলনামূলক বেশি। তবে এটি জন্মগতও হতে পারে। এওর্টিক এনিউরিজম মোটেও অবহেলা করার মতো কোন রোগ নয় এবং সনাক্ত হলে সঠিক চিকিৎসা গ্রহণ করা প্রয়োজন। কারণ এই রোগের ফলে ৩২-৬৮ শতাংশ রোগীর এনিউরিজম ফেটে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকে যা রোগীর মৃত্যুঝুঁকি বাড়িয়ে তোলে। তাই আমি আহ্ববান জানাই, আসুন আমরা নিজে এই রোগ সম্পর্কে সচেতন হই এবং অন্যকে সচেতন করে তুলতে চেষ্টা করি।”

Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair
[Chattogram, August 29, 2021]- Renowned for its world class healthcare services, Evercare Hospital Chattogram has recently completed the successful treatment of aortic aneurysm through thoracic endovascular aortic repair, a rare and complex method of treatment. The method has not been used anywhere else in the country except in Dhaka. The hospital authorities organized a press conference today where various aspects of the disease and treatment were discussed.
Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair is a minimally invasive procedure to repair the major blood vessel in the body called the aorta. Evercare Hospital Chattogram successfully carried out this treatment through the efforts of an illustrious team led by Dr. Mohammad Fazle Maruf, Senior Consultant, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and Dr. Asish Dey, Senior Consultant Cardiology with support from anesthesia team.
Dr. Mohammad Fazle Maruf, Senior Consultant, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Evercare Hospital Chattogram, said, “It is basically a disease without symptoms. As a result, it is riskier than any common disease. However, the patient may feel pain in the abdomen and chest and the blood pressure may rise. The disease is detected by CT scan of the abdomen, USG or X-ray and it is very important to get treatment after diagnosis. The disease is usually treated with surgical procedures. However, at present, the disease is treated in a special and modern way like thoracic endovascular aortic repair, which is the method we have used.” He added, “We, at Evercare Hospital Chattogram are immensely proud of successfully carrying out this method that has not been used anywhere else in the country other than the capital. This is the fourth such procedure carried out successfully in Bangladesh”
Dr. Asish Dey, Senior Consultant, Cardiology at Evercare Hospital Chattogram said, “I am very happy and proud of the unimaginable success of Evercare Hospital Chattogram in this rare and critical treatment process of aortic aneurysms.” He added, “If any part of the aorta of our body is abnormally large, it is called aortic aneurysm. Generally, people who suffer from diabetes or high blood pressure are more at risk with this disease. However, it can also be congenital. Aortic aneurysm is not a disease to be neglected at all and if diagnosed, proper treatment is required. This is because 32 to 68 percent of patients run the risk of rupture in the aneurysm rupture which may prove to be fatal. So, I urge everyone to learn more about this disease and create awareness about it as well.”
